Weekly

Hej venner!

Translation:

Hi friends! I think that spring has finally come to NYC. The temperature is between 8-17 degrees (celcius), which is not quite normal for the end of april, since we usually have a little higher temperatures at this point. But I will take what I can get, haha! As long as the sun is out, the sky is blue and it is warm enough to have a thin jacket on, I am so happy! I have not posted a lot of Weekly posts, and therefore I have so many pictures and things I have done recently, that have not shown you. I am only posting some of the pictures today or else this post will be way too long.

This must be one of my favorite spots to photograph, hah! I think it looks so cool. The raw diner against the gigantic high-fashion poster. It is actually a very good symbol of what New York City is: raw and extravagant, and fashionable and street at the same time. Opposites come together in this city and making it what it is. It fits together in such a great way, even though you might think it would not.

April-Seventeenth-Easter-Lunch-Party

And then there was the Easter lunch party, which I wrote about a few weeks back. We held a potluck with a bunch of Danes in our apartment. Everyone brought a traditional Danish Easter dish, and then we ate food and talked for a lot of hours. It all ended with a night out and it was just such a good evening, and a cosy arrangement. It is nice to be able to celebrate traditions with other Danes when you are far away from home. We had set the table in pink and yellow colors. Everything in plastic, haha, so it was easy to clean after. I think we were 12 people for dinner and then more people came after the dinner. Both Americans and Danes, so cozy!

Sunday Riley Launch Party

On a Wednesday, a few weeks back, I was invited to a launch party for the makeup brand Sunday Riley. They had opened a pop-up shop in Soho. It was a really cool event! Everything was pink and there was glitter and confetti all over the place. They gave out makeup to right and left, there was a free bar, a pink slide, and all kinds of other fun things to explore. Of course, there was also a DJ playing festive music, and then it was so crowded with people. Basically one big party – It was a very fun experience.

Hjemmekontoret // The home office

Translation:

Our Home Office is taking shape and here is a little detail picture of it. We currently have a smaller marble slab as a desk, but the idea is to find one that is long enough to fill the entire end wall, so that two people can work by the desk at the same time. The desktop is right by the window and it is so amazing to work here when the sun comes through the window.

Sunday in Brooklyn brunchin’!

Translation:

A classic for me: avocado toast on Sunday in Brooklyn, sooo good! They change it a bit from time to time, which I really like. This time it was with goat cheese and a lot of grains on top. My mother and sister were with me since they were visiting last week. We all got the same thing and we shared some homefries and bacon.

Hang ud i Soho // Hanging out in Soho

Translation:

Soho is a clear favorite when I have guests, it is the best place to shop in Manhattan, in my opinion. So I brought my family down there on a pretty cold day. I will show you the rest of the outfit soon.

Pæn indretning, chailatte og blomster på min yndlings cafe // Pretty decor, chai latte and flowers on my fave cafe

The first day my mother and sister were here we went to Williamsburg to enjoy a day in the sunshine. We were at Smorgasburg, which is a big food market near the waterfront in Williamsburg, and then we went on the classic vintage shopping trip which Williamsburg is so known for. We started the day at my favorite chai latte café, By Woops, which also offers coffee, cakes and cream puffs. A really nice day!

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Translation:

On my birthday last Tuesday, we ate brunch in the morning at home in the apartment, and then we went to explore the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Unfortunately the cherry blossoms were not quite yet in bloom, since the weather has been cooler than usual, but there were plenty of beautiful plants to look at in the tropical pavilions.

April-Seventeenth-Mother-Of-Pearl-Tiki-Bar

Cocktails at Mother of Pearl

Translation:

After the trip to the Botanical Garden we went home and drank tea and had homemade Danish birthday cake, with vanilla cream, jam and whipped cream. Totally old school and so good! In the evening we had drinks at the coolest Tiki Bar, Mother of Pearl, which was perfectly kitchy in the decor and they made really good cocktails. After this we went to Hanjan, which is a Korean restaurant. The food was really good, but the restaurant was not that intimate and cozy.

Translation:

Are you looking for a little different and fun experience in New York, I can certainly recommend the tramway to Roosevelt Island. The trip takes five minutes and the views are brilliant! It is a little like seeing New York in a bird’s eye view, and it is a completely different experience than the view from a tall building. It is definitely not the last time I take this trip. In addition, Roosevelt Island is super cozy, and has both historical buildings, a light house, and other interesting things to explore.

Udsigt fra Roosevelt Island // View from Roosevelt Island

Translation:

Look at this gorgeous view from Roosevelt Island to Manhattan. They also had a ton of cherry blossom trees on the small island and it is hosting an annual cherry blossom festival. It must be pretty trendy with cherry blossom festivals in America, haha! I feel like these festivals are everywhere.

April-Seventeenth-BoCaphe-2

Translation:

On our trip to Soho, we visited BoCaphe, which is the perfect lunch place if you are shopping in Soho. The food is Vietnamese, healthy and fresh with lots of greens! They serve noodle soups, dumplings, spring rolls, salads, smoothies and juices. It is so delicious! They are open for brunch, lunch and dinner. If you get the chance then sit in the back room, which is really cozy and more intimate than the front part of the restaurant.
