The Apartment By The Line, NYC

(English translation below)

The Apartment by The Line er indrettet som en lækker New Yorker lejlighed i hjertet af SoHo.

Have you had a good Tuesday? I hope you had a good start to the new week?
Today I want to write a little about a concept store, which I like a lot here in New York City. Last Friday I stopped by The apartment by The Line, just to see what new things they had in store. I visit the boutique regularly, because they change the décor, from time to time. Therefore there is always new inspiration on the interior design – and fashion front. The apartment by The Line is decorated like a gorgeous New York apartment in the heart of SoHo. It is a very unique experience to step into the beautiful apartment, where everything is for sale. The store possesses a homely and relaxed atmosphere, which is so nice, and the staff is always accommodating and friendly. I often stick around longer when I’m here, because there is so much to look at, and it is so cozy to hang out there. This time, I fell in love with the couch and the vintage rug. Just look at the colors of the rug in dusty pink, blue and green hues, so pretty! The apartment is located on beautiful Greene Street. To get to the apartment you take an elevator from the street, which opens directly into the apartment. A little extra feature, which I think is pretty cool.
The Line sells designer brands such as; Loewe, Proenza Schouler, Altuzarra and many more. On the interior decorating front they have, among other things, quite a lot of design and furniture from Scandinavian designers and architects. You can also shop their products at The Line’s website, here! I can highly recommend to swing by the apartment, if you are already on a shopping spree in SoHo. It is a different and unique shopping experience.

AP Cafe

(English translation below)

Jeg skal lige have prøvet mere af deres nye menu, men so far so good. I kan se deres menu her!

As I mentioned earlier, I would really love to share many of my favorite spots in New York City with you guys. And what is more obvious than to start with sharing a little gem from the area I live in.
Yesterday I went down to the AP Cafe for lunch. AP Cafe is located in some pretty cool surroundings on Troutman Street in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Most of the buildings in this area are industrial, and a lot of them are adorned with murals – really beautifully made murals. They are often inspired by the urban environment, or with a political message in mind. It is one of the things I love about the area I live in, the surroundings are edgy and urban, but then there are all these artistic murals everywhere. At AP Cafe I got my usual Chai Latte, I either get it to go, or sit down and enjoy it inside. I have to mention that I don’t drink coffee, yes I am one of those of people, haha! Am I the only non-coffee-drinker out there? They make an absolutely delicious Chai Latte; creamy, milky and with the perfect amount of spice. They also just redid their menu, so I was excited to try their ricotta toast. The ricotta was so good, on a delicious bread, topped with Arugula and dried tomatoes. It was a bit spicy, but I only felt a slight pinch on the tongue. By the way, I started eating much more ricotta cheese after I moved to NYC, they use it so much here, at cafes and restaurants, it is very delicious. I must try more of AP Cafe’s new menu, but so far so good. Their menu consists of a healthy and light cuisine, coffee in various ways, tea and chocolate. You can see their menu right here! I just took a glimpse and they serve Rosemary fries, I just have to try them. Fries are always a good idea!
The interior design at AP Cafe is minimalistic and industrial. It is such a beautiful and photogenic place, with high ceilings, roof windows, concrete floors and light blue vintage folding chairs. In one of the corners they have a huge mirror, which really is a hidden door to a back room. There is a giant fig tree which stretches far up toward the ceiling, it looks so beautiful. The environment is very creatively inspiring, with so many people sitting on their laptops, working on their dreams. Bushwick is filled with young creative souls, some of which are self-employed or freelancers, making it perfect for them to take some time away from the office or home to work in different surroundings.

(English translation below)

Hey folkens!

Hvad med en spadseretur i Central Park, parken over alle parker, her i New York.

Jeg kan nævne: Lobby Bar i The Bowery Hotel, Employees Only, The Lately, Black Rabbit Bar og The Ballroom i The Jane HotelCheers!

Translation:

Hi peeps! I hope your weekend has gotten off to a good start. I do not quite know what I am going to do this weekend, other than I am going out tonight in Brooklyn. A glass of wine or a cocktail, sounds good in my ears right now, so I think that is what it will turn into. It is always nice after a long week, right?  In my quest, to make plans for the weekend, I thought, I would share a few tips for what to do on a January weekend in New York City. Maybe some of you will find yourself in NYC this weekend, otherwise some of the tips, can also be used at another time this year.
New York City Restaurant Week is taking place right now and up until February 9th. New York is, of course, known for its culinary range, with food from all over the world and world class restaurants. It is a true mecca for foodies and for people who love delicious food, and who does not love good food? I have had some very sublime dining experiences in New York, and some of the meals have been some of the best food I have tasted in my life. During NYC Restaurant Week you can get a 3-course menu for $29 for lunch, and $42 for dinner. I have taken a look at some restaurants I would like to try: Tao Downtown, Lure Fish Bar, The Russian Tea Room and ABC Kitchen. There are enough to choose from, and I am so hungry now after reading about all these restaurants, haha!
How about a stroll in Central Park, the Park of all parks, here in New York. Saturday will be such a beautiful day with 11 degrees (celcius) and Sun. Start the walk from Columbus Circle and walk into the Park, or follow W 59th Street and take a look at some seriously expensive buildings, hotels and apartments along the Park. Go for a walk around The Lake, go to Central Park Zoo, or visit the Hans Christian Andersen statue, which is also located in the Park.
It is cold in New York for the time being, and what is better than a trip out one evening at a cozy bar with a warm fireplace. It gives just a little extra to the coziness that you can enjoy a drink in front of a warm fireplace, away from New York’s cold and windy streets. New York has fortunately quite a few bars with fireplaces. I can mention: The Lobby Bar at The Bowery Hotel, Employees Only, The Lately, Black Rabbit Bar and The Ballroom in The Jane Hotel. Cheers!
There is a lot of Secondhand shopping in New York, and it is always a weekend favorite in my book. There is always a chance of finding some cool styles from expensive designer brands, a beautiful cashmere knit or a stunning silk vintage dress, and more. Some of my favorite vintage shops are: Beacon’s Closet, L Train Vintage and Mr. Throwback. There are of course many other secondhand and vintage shops in NYC, but I am thinking of doing some more posts on the topic. So stay tuned!
Winter time equals ice skating in New York. Take a ride on the famous Rink at Rockefeller Center, what about The Wollman Rink in Central Park, or the ice rink at Prospect Park in Brooklyn. There is a whole lot of options, but don’t forget warm clothes and possibly some hot cocoa for the trip.
Have a beautiful weekend out there!

Translation:

On 4th Street in East Village a small gem of a flower shop, called Le Bouquet, is located. Behind a weathered dark wood facade, with a large window, you can spot strategically placed flowers and plants. But the real surprise hits you when you enter the store, because it is so beautiful in its own unique way. Let alone the name Le Bouquet I associate with French romance. In this case, a bit gloomy and industrial romance due to the surroundings which is an amazing opposite to the beautiful flowers.

When I was in search of a superb flower shop and visited the boutique, I was so surprised of how big the room felt. High ceilings with a skylight that created the most beautiful dim light, and made the place look even more magical. The perfect setting for taking beautiful pictures, and buying flowers. Such a brilliant place for a photo nerd like me, hah! I was surprised at how many dried flowers the people from Le Bouquet use in their bouquets and displays. Actually a good idea to give the usual fresh cut flowers a little competition or companionship.

I usually buy my flowers in a corner store like so many other New Yorkers. Sometimes I do miss the selection a real flower shop provides, as corner stores in New York are not always updated in their flower selection. I buy flowers at my local corner store, because it is easy and it has relatively good prices. Flowers in New York are actually pretty expensive, and I really miss the Copenhagen flower prices. You can get such a great deal for your money there. Oh well, I need flowers no matter what. Flowers are one thing I really appreciate in my everyday life. They make the home even more beautiful and creates joy, and a lovely smell. I think I will visit Le Bouquet again soon, it is really a magic little spot in the midst of the big concrete jungle!
